Ada and her Flashcards.

We have been working on the flashcards and she is doing very well, the only problem is keeping her still long enough to go through them!

Adam and Ada in the tunnel.

SHARK!!!!!!

Nana sent Ada tickets to go to the aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN, this week so we took advantage of the cold rainy day to spend indoors in a tropical oasis. We had a blast! Ada was running from window to window yelling "FISH FISH!!" and it didn't matter if it was a frog or crab they were all renamed. Once we got to the "tunnel" and on the moving sidewalk Ada learned a new word for a new fish and that word/fish was "SHARK". She yelled "Shark" at every darn shark in the tank and even a few tuna got yelled at too. It didn't help that Adam was humming the theme song to "Jaws" the entire time but the young couple behind us were leaning on each other for support in laughter. We also got to see a huge tank of sting rays that were absolutely beautiful. I told Adam that in our next house I wanted a sting ray fish tank that was that size in our house somewhere. (I don't think he shared the same enthusiasm as me.) Well Ada didn't know what these new animals were and I don't think she could figure out how to say "sting ray" so she just pulled a word out of her small vocabulary and renamed them "KITTY!". (Once again the couple behind us grabbing there sides and now snorting.)
On the way out of the aquarium Ada spotted a very colorful plastic octopus and asked Adam what it was. Adam told her and she repeated it perfectly. So our not quite 2 year old calls sting rays "Kitties" but can pronounce "octopus" clearly....go figure.
New words learned today: Raccoon, Turkey, & Bear: Thanks to Bass Pro Shop. Octopus, Shark, Jelly (for Jelly Fish), and Crab from the aquarium.

Park and Snow

The weather outside is frightful but the snow balls outside are HUGE!

So we got some snow....then we got some more....and some more.....

Last week we were hit by a winter storm that dropped about 5inches on Knoxville. We stayed indoors for most of it, but a few days later when most had melted we ventured out to the park to get some fresh air. In the field next to the park was what was left of a ginormous snowman. Ada is standing in front of what was left of the midsection. I'm just glad she didn't try to lick it.
